The best poverty prevention tool we have is education.
Ensuring that children have the supplies they need to do their homework, take tests, and complete science and art projects is a simple but important way we can help them get their education and succeed in school.

That's why each fall United Way engages local businesses and individuals in a "Stuff the Bus" collection drive. In 2017, over 3,300 FCPS students benefited from the drive, more than 110 collection sites were set up, over 85 volunteers in ten buses collected 70,000+ items. In 2018, our goal is to stuff twelve buses to help more students and we need your help!

If your child or a child you know could make use of new school supplies for the next school year, please call 2-1-1 to learn more about how to connect with our initiative.

If your business would like to host a collection drive, visit this link to register.

A huge thank you to our 2018 Stuff the Bus Sponsors:

About United Way of Frederick County

For over 80 years, United Way of Frederick County (UWFC) has been fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in the Frederick County community. In 2017, United Way produced the ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) Report, which identifies that approximately one out of every three households can no longer afford to live in Frederick County. UWFC’s investments and programs are aligned to support and increase the financial stability of ALICE households.

United Way partners include global, national and local businesses, nonprofits, government, civic and faith-based organizations, along with educators, health providers, senior citizens, students, and others. The organization provides grants to local nonprofits, offers programs such as free tax preparation and matched savings, mobilizes volunteers, and engages in public policy advocacy.
