Our mission at Woman to Woman Mentoring, Inc is to cultivate mentoring relationships that provide women with guidance, support, and community connections.

We rise to this mission by providing one-on-one support of a mentor and group support through our workshops. Through these mentoring opportunities women throughout Frederick County get connected to their mentors and to others who will support their endeavors. Mentees take action towards establishing and working towards their goals, and they move forward in their lives.

~60% of our CORE Program mentees are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) or below the federal poverty line.

Funding from the Unity Campaign will support our mentees' participation in the CORE and Women in STEM Mentorship Programs, and will cover a portion of the cost to provide direct services to our ALICE mentees. These services include but are not limited to...

  • support by staff of the mentoring pair as they build their relationship
  • coaching mentors & mentees
  • life-skills workshop
  • assessing & evaluating mentee progress
  • providing input on mentees' goal progression
  • referring mentees to specific community partners for assistance in a specific area
  • connecting mentees with other mentors and mentee alumni who could be potential employers, professors, trainers, etc.

Workshops are a necessary aspect of where these things happen, especially since about 20% of our participants are single mothers and 1/3 are first generation college students. Often, these groups of mentees are ALICE and benefit greatly from the access to connections, group encouragement, and knowledge-based workshops in addition to the one-on-one support of their mentors.

Mentees report that because of W2WM they are more likely to:

  • Get a new job or move up in their current jobs (81%)
  • Negotiate their salaries (55%)
  • Save money (73%)
  • 100% of the mentees with academic goals (starting/restarting/persisting in school) report they're more likely to reach those goals because of W2WM, Inc.

How the CORE & Women in STEM Programs Work:

Matched and monitored by our team, mentors and mentees are paired one-on-one. The mentoring pair works closely over the course of the program (and beyond). They attend monthly life-skills workshops that cover a wide range of topics such as strengths discovery and implementation, networking, financial stability, healthy relationships, wellness, values, vision, and goal setting, and career readiness.

Long after the program is over, mentees continue to have access to their mentor match. Their mentoring community expands to include the opportunity to connect with previous mentees and mentors of W2WM, Inc., which is an excellent resource for our "alumni" as they continue to expend their professional and personal network, utilize local resources, and empowered through personal support and encouragement.

When women thrive, our whole community thrives.
