USC VHH Women and Family Services Fund

    Women’s Health

USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (USC VHH) provides a variety of health services specifically designed for women. The Beginnings Family Birth Center provides private labor, delivery, and post-partum care with access to 24-hour laborists, family suites, and in-room couplet care. The Family Education Program provides educational and support classes to new families dealing with all aspects of childbirth and infant care and safety. Women’s health services also encompass comprehensive diagnostics and care for a wide range of conditions affecting the female reproductive system and breast health.

Access to the Latest Technology, Equipment and Minimally Invasive Procedures

3D Tomosynthesis is cutting edge mammography technology which allows radiologists to see cross sections of breast tissue in 1 mm segments – detecting cancers that are often missed with traditional 2D mammography. USC VHH’s Breast Imaging Center utilizes this state of the art diagnostic technology. Similarly, USC VHH is rapidly growing its traditional and robotic surgical capacity in the areas of gynecology and breast surgery. New surgical and robotic technologies provide better outcomes and faster recovery time for our patients and help to recruit surgeons who are leaders in their various specialties. With the latest in technology and the best and brightest physicians conducting surgery at our hospital, USC VHH can provide access to the most advanced, state-of-the-art surgical procedures right here in our own community.

    Enhancing Excellence Through Clinical Training

Clinical training funds established through philanthropy enable USC VHH labor and delivery nurses to receive specialized, on-going skills training in areas such as neonatal resuscitation, electronic fetal monitoring and lactation support, just to name a few. The opportunity to refresh, enhance or build best-practice clinical skills among our non-physician medical staff is critical to providing optimal patient safety and outcomes. Opportunities for education and training have also proven a highly effective way to retain and recruit the best and brightest clinical personnel.

    Family Education

No or low-cost classes cover a wide array of topics including what to expect in the initial months of pregnancy, how to prepare for childbirth and help families prepare to welcome new babies home. Led by experts and certified educators, key health and safety topics are also covered including breastfeeding education and support, infant CPR and general infant care. Philanthropic funds allow these classes to be offered to all patients, regardless of ability to pay.
