Become an Ambassador

A Chance2Dance is BMDC’s 2018 end-of-year giving campaign. Like the name suggests, our efforts to raise funding dollars underwrites a portion of the professional Company’s performances and presented collaborations with our local artists here in the DC Metro region.

There are other groups of people that benefit from our Chance2Dance campaign, students (K-12), and seniors. We share the joy of dance with more than 30,000 people each season.

The success of our Chance2Dance campaign insures that BMDC’s community programs remain FREE for our students and seniors.

In Season 23, you can catch the professional Company performances at Gunston Arts Center, Dance Place, George Mason University Center for the Arts Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center and 20+ schools.

Our artist collaborations this season include the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra, Cantate Chamber Singers, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, and the National Chamber Ensemble. We continue to elevate contemporary dance and in doing so support local regional musicians alike.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS

We Put the ‘A’ in STEM Education
The Company engages and shares the joy of dance with K-12 students in the DC Metro region. We provide in- and after-school dance workshops, tailored dance residencies and in-school interactive performances by the professional Company. One of our flagship junior company residencies is with the Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, VA. For the past ten years, we have presented 30 Kenmore M.S. students alongside our professional company to perform at their school assemblies, our annual MOVE ME Festival, the Kennedy Center Millennium  stage and other venues. Our Teaching Artists introduce students to multiple dance genres with integrated subjects that include art, mathematics, creative writing, history and music.

We thank our school partners, Artivate, Inc., the Kennedy Center’s DC School Partnership Initiative, and the Arlington Humanities for the Arts.

Dance for Parkinson’s Disease
In 2008, Bowen McCauley Dance Company worked directly with the Mark Morris Dance Group of NYC to bring the Dance for PDⓇ program to the DC Metro region. Now in year ten, we remain the only dance company in the region to provide FREE, weekly Dance for PDⓇ classes to people with this debilitating disease and their care partners in six area locations. No pre-registration or dance experience is required.

Our hope this giving season is that you find value in supporting BMDC’s work to provide people of all-ages, abilities and backgrounds with a Chance2Dance!
