Help provide students access to comprehensive advising, career opportunities and timely graduation.

Juggling rigorous courses and assignments, navigating degree requirements, and securing valuable internship and industry connections, all while learning the ropes of living on one’s own can be a big challenge for many students. The Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) opened in 2016 and served more than 230 students in its first year. This invaluable resource helps students thrive at Chico State, achieve timely graduation, and be prepared to make positive impact in their chosen field. An anonymous College of ECC donor and alum has pledged up to $10,000 to match Giving Day gifts to this important cause.

Here’s how you can make a difference:

Ensure that all 2,500 College of Engineering, Computer Science and Construction Management (ECC) students have access to the important services provided by the ESSC.

Achieving the Giving Day fundraising goals means that ESSC’s services will expand by covering all majors in the College and expanding the center’s hours of operation. In addition to focusing on retaining students who are in the critical first two years of their major, the ESSC will be able to broaden its focus to transfer students, streamlining their education for more timely graduation.

The ESSC provides key services tailored to students in the College of ECC including:

  • Comprehensive Academic Advisingreview degree flowcharts and degree progress reports; offer guidance selecting summer school courses at community colleges to fast-track graduation.
  • Career Advisingprepare students for the twice-annual Technical Career Fair with workshops tailored to ECC students through a strategic partnership with the Chico State Career Center.
  • Facilitate relationships between students and facultyprepare students for formal advising meetings with faculty and provide follow up to ensure students get the answers they need. Faculty are confident in ESSC services and routinely refer struggling students for assistance.
