The Radiographic Science program at ISU has partnered with Idaho Condor’s medical mission to provide cost-free medical imaging to the indigent of Peru. Each March, a team organized by the Idaho Condor Humanitarian, Inc. serves in Peru for 10 days. Healthcare personnel (medical, dental, surgical, and audiology teams) from Southeast Idaho volunteer and self-fund a trip to help educate and improve the health of Peruvians.
The 2019 Idaho Condor Expedition marked the first year medical imaging was available for providers to use in the villages. Over the course of five days of clinics, 91 ultrasounds were performed with pathology discovered in 39 of those cases. Many of those patients were referred to the regional hospital to address findings that included prostate tumors, pelvic tumors, large gallstones, and one severely obstructed kidney. Having Ultrasound imaging this year made a very tangible difference in the lives of many people. Not just the 91 patients we imaged, but also in the lives of all the volunteer providers who were able to provide a higher level of care. When we finished clinic days many of the program coordinators, physicians, and Physician Assistants expressed how helpful it was to have imaging present during this year’s Idaho Condor expedition.

Invest in ISU Radiographic Science students:
In an effort to help educate our students to become compassionate and globally minded healthcare personnel, the ISU department of Radiographic Science has partnered with Idaho Condor Humanitarian, Inc. to provide ultrasound imaging for individuals living in rural Peru. For 10 days every year, some of ISU’s x-ray and sonography students will have a unique opportunity to help provide needed imaging that will improve diagnostic capabilities in remote regions of Peru. Your financial support will have a lasting impact on the indigent of Peru who are in need diagnostic imaging. In addition, the students or technologists who experience this medical mission will become more compassionate, globally minded healthcare providers. The Radiographic Science program at ISU has a great desire to continue providing this amazing service every year for Idaho Condor. Thank you for supporting Idaho State University’s Radiographic Science alumni and students!
