Help Our Student Teachers Travel to Work

The purpose of the Miles for Teaching Fund is to support our teaching credential students, who play a critical role in serving rural schools across the North State. They must pay out-of-pocket for gas and travel expenses that are required to teach in these high-need communities. Help us offset those costs with gas cards and support our future teachers' commitment to California's children.

Make your gift today and Melaine Taylor ('61) will double it! She's matching all gifts, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.

You Can Offset Unreimbursed Gas Costs for Tomorrow's Teachers

Full-time field placements plus full-time coursework means teaching credential students must rely on loans and scholarships for school. This fall, 30 student teachers are travelling up to 350 unreimbursed miles per week to their unpaid, 15-week field placements in rural schools across the North State. This can cost more than $2,500 in gas per semester, and a $50 per week gas card would do a great deal to help lessen their burden. Helps us purchase 750 cards!

An anonymous donor has been generous enough to match all gifts up to $10,000.
