Help us launch The Village of Hope.
For 12 years we've been working in Haiti's remote Grande Anse River Valley providing schools for children, medical care and clean water for villages, and equipping the local pastors. Our motto is to pick one place in the world and make it better.
Even though we're seeing lives changed every day, the valley and surrounding mountains are filled with an alarming number of vulnerable children whose parents have died or abandoned them. Many of these children will fall victim to sex or slave traffickers. Others will be given away as restaveks, child slaves who work in someone else’s household in exchange for a meal and a place to sleep. Most of these children end up malnourished, illiterate, and sometimes sexually abused.
The total number of vulnerable children in Haiti is estimated at 1,210,000, or between 20-25% of the under 15 population. Vulnerable is defined as children who live in households whose parent(s) are starving poor, as well as those who are abandoned, neglected or abused by family guardians.
Can we fix all of this? No. But with your help we can rescue some of these children and give them hope and a future.
How? By helping us launch The Village of Hope, an orphanage providing a new life for 12 boys and twelve girls. Each house will have 3 bedrooms, a big dining room, a kitchen, and a large sitting porch, and the children will be cared for by good, carefully screened, Christian women.
The children will be loved, nurtured in Christ, fed and clothed well, and get to go to school every day.
Last October, at our annual fundraising Gala, we raised the money needed to build the Village of Hope buildings. This year, in 2018, we’re working hard to raise the money to now open the Village of Hope and support its day-to-day operations, as well as outfit the inside of the homes, add some important infrastructure, and give the children everything they need to live comfortable happy lives in a loving setting.
With your help, the Village of Hope will receive these children and they won’t be lost to the unmerciful forces of poverty and darkness. The choice is ours. The need is now. Come rescue them with us.
