Joint Mission Bataan
Hello! My name is Marc, and I'll be representing New York State for the National Ataxia Foundation in the 2020 Bataan Memorial Death March (https://bataanmarch.com). This fundraising project, called the Joint Mission Bataan, was started by the NAF in an effort to support both the Ataxia community and veterans. In March, 49 other state representatives and I have committed to hiking 26.2 miles in the New Mexico desert.
Some background: In 1998, two years after I was born, my dad was diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 2, a genetic disorder that affects the neurological system. My dad fought the disease with everything he had and served as my greatest inspiration and role model. Although he passed away when I was 15, my brothers and I carry on his legacy of never giving up without a fight. Five years ago, my younger brother was diagnosed with the same condition, and I am now more determined than ever to stay positive and help find a cure to all types of Ataxia.
I'm asking you to be a part of the Joint Mission Bataan- together we can spread awareness of Ataxia, raise funds, and find a cure. Contributions will go towards fulfilling NAF's mission of improving the lives of persons affected by Ataxia through support, education, and research.
