Here at the Academic Literacies Center, we strive to create an environment that encourages participation, acceptance, and a willingness to ask questions. Our center provides students with academic support so they can be successful in their college careers and beyond. We need your help to continue our efforts. We provide free snacks to students so that they don't have to work on an empty stomach as well as tools such as whiteboards to allow for greater visual learning. We would like to further expand our services by purchasing affordable headphones for our center computers, tablets for a quicker check-in process, a program called NetTutor to continue supporting students after-hours, and a scholarship to help our tutors afford textbooks. Your contribution is essential to allowing us to continue our great work. We hope you will consider making a donation to help the students of Ferris State University.

Welcome to Ferris State Baja Racing! We are a club at Ferris State that includes members from multiple different programs including Automotive, Welding, manufacturing, and many more. We build an off-road vehicle entirely from scratch. We start with designing the car on solid works, bending, cutting, and welding tubing to create a frame and fabricating and assembling engine, transmission, and suspension components. We race schools all across the country in off-road endurance races and compete in multiple events each year. This club allows students to learn hands-on skills and important engineering principles, while also learning great teamwork and communication skills. We are looking for donations to help us further our club and allow for more students to be able to be involved and attend races. We are also in need of new rims and tires for the four-wheel drive SAE baja vehicle build. Thank you for your consideration in donating to our club!

$700 Match - Sponsored by Sheila Nero, Kathy and Marco Menezes Since 2020, the Bulldog Basic Needs Alliance has provided emergency assistance to Ferris students experiencing food and housing insecurity. Knowing that struggles with basic needs have a direct impact on student success, the BBNA strives to support students as quickly as possible. We know that hunger and homelessness can directly impact academic performance, often leading to a lack of concentration, delay in degree completion or total withdrawal from the university. With 1 in 5 undergraduate students experiencing food insecurity, and 9% of university students experiencing homelessness, your gift will help us feed the next hungry student or keep a Bulldog where they belong: right here, on our campus. In 2023, thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide 521 meal swipes to students. The BBNA also responded to a 23% increase in housing requests. Whether through meal swipes, temporary housing, funding for our campus food pantries or more, your gift to the BBNA can enormously impact a student's success. Thank you for keeping the dream of a Ferris education alive for our students.
Support the Bulldog Math Center! The Mathematics Department at Ferris State University wants to offer an additional resource to support our students in their math courses on campus by creating an inclusive and safe space for all students to ask questions, learn, and improve their confidence and skills in a subject that is often feared by many. Many institutions have tutoring centers that focus on math only. Creating a space such as this here at Ferris would encourage students to frequently visit the Mathematics Department where faculty offices are also conveniently located. Between creating this center, encouraging positive and productive interactions between students/tutors/faculty, and your support, we can further assist our students as they work towards their degrees!

Nearly 20% of college students report having a disability, but many do not go on to complete their degrees due to institutional barriers, including financial barriers. 25% of college students with disabilities leave college after one year compared to 14% of those without disabilities. Students with disabilities can choose to take a reduced course load, but that often means reduced financial and fewer scholarship opportunities. The longer time to degree also means more college debt and lost wages. By supporting this scholarship, you are helping to decrease these barriers. Thank you for supporting this fundraising effort. Student Message: My Name is Nicole O’Brien. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Ferris State University. I also work for Educational Counseling & Disability Services at Ferris. I am writing to you in hopes you will consider supporting a disability scholarship at Ferris State University. Please take a second to imagine someone with a disability saying to you, “Our society is not made for me.” Their shoulders slumped. A dejected look on their face. What would you think. How would you respond. This is a reality that nearly 20% of all college students in America must live with every day, including myself. I was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP). My CP is such that I cannot feed myself, dress myself, open doors, or get a Kleenex box if need be. I am reliant upon personal care with nearly all activities of daily living. To graduate from college, students with disabilities must endure added expenses in areas such as personal care assistants, transportation, and technology. When their families cannot help, disparities loom even larger. Many students like myself must dedicate a considerable amount of time to simple tasks like getting out of bed, getting dressed and going to the bathroom; making it difficult to maintain a full-time class schedule. By supporting a disability scholarship, you are investing in the independence and inclusion of all students with disabilities at Ferris State University and helping to further their personal and professional development. This scholarship would help relieve many of the added costs and stress associated with an education for students with disabilities in a tangible and practical way. Thank You, Nicole O’Brien

In addition, funding will provide additional resources to meet un-met needs. Your support is truly appreciated!
First-Generation students embody the mission and vision that Ferris State University was founded upon. First-Generation students may be the first in their family to attend college, and may not have the same knowledge and support as other students. Over the past four years, the First-Generation Initiative at Ferris has supported and celebrated First-Gen students with workshops, outreach, support, an ally program, graduation cords, a student organization, and so much more. Now the Initiative wants to go even further by providing First-Generation students at Ferris with more financial support through the First-Gen Student Scholarship. These students have the opportunity to create generational change for their families. Please consider being a part of that change by making a gift to the First Generation Scholarship.
